Jimmi and Rowan take thier acoustics to the next level. Not really a gig but something to laugh at!
Event: Rowan and Jimmi go Busking
Event Date: 26th May 2009
Venue: Streets of Lincoln
Ticket Price: n/a
Songs Played: (No particular order) Why Don't You See*, Quadrat in the Tree*, Last Star in the Sky, Times Have Changed, Thanks For Nothing, My Country*
* - Blak Tornado song
Audience Number: However many of them saw us
Description: After meeting up for a practice, Rowan and Jimmi decided take their two acoustic guitars out into the streets of Lincoln and start busking. And running away from a Police Officer who was going to stop them playing! Overall, they earned £1.25. But that wasn't why they were there; to make money. The best part was getting out there and spreading Delayed Finality in an alternative way; getting out there and doing something. Some people stopped to listen for a moment and even a toddler walked by head-banged in a cute way. Best get them started early...
What the band thought: Jimmi said during the gig: RUN!

Caught Live: Acoustic Set
Rowan and Jimmi decided a change of approach when Charlie and Matt couldn't make it. The answer? Acoustic
Event: Delayed Finality Acoustic Special in association with The Bivouac
Event Date: 28th February 2009
Venue: The Millers Arms, Lincoln
Ticket Price: £5
Songs Played: Why Don't You See*, Equipment of the Futile, Quadrat in the Tree*, Last Star in the Sky (Attack of the Killer Tomato), Times Have Changed*, Thanks For Nothing
* - Blak Tornado song
Audience Number: 40 Approx.
Description: The first gig of 2009 after a break writing new songs over Christmas. It wasn't all that bad considering. Since Matt and Charlie couldn't make it, the guitarist thought on their feet and decided to an acoustic gig rather than rescheduling. They decided to do balladic renditions of their songs. Quadrat in the Tree and Last Star in the Sky were put back into this set list and the Blak Tornado song Times Have Change was put in, replacing My Country; Attack of the Killer Tomato (Or should that be Acoustic of the Killer Tomato) was also placed as an outro for Last Star and yet again, Rowan but his comical Goth-rock vocals in there. Made it more amusing! This was the first outing for Rowan's Green acoustic and Jimmi's 'Bluey' acoustic. Because The Millers arms was such a small venue, compared to the Duke of Wellington, it was a very intimate gig and was a nice atmophere. It was unfortunate it wasn't a 4-piece but due to the circumstances, a good night none-the-less and the audience seemed to like what they were hearing. Playing alonside Last Black Rose, The Dark Mantra and Mega Priest (Who played a song called Bernard).
What the band thought: Jimmi says: Very different to the full band experience, but not the same. Still...wasn't bad

Caught Live: Indie/Alt Night
Third outing out, this time at an alternative night. Perfect for an alternative band...without an important figure behind them
Event: Indie/Alternative Night in Asosciation with Aurora Promotions
Event Date: 18th October 2008
Venue: The Travellers Rest, Lincoln
Ticket Price: Delayed Finality deal - £3 (£5 Standard. £6 on the door)
Songs Played: Why Don't You See*, Equilibrium, Project 52*, Equipment of the Futile, My Country*, Thanks For Nothing
Audience Number: 30 - 40 Approx.
Round-up: If you were there, you'd have certainly see something missing. That drum kit at the back of the stage was a bit empty. Delayed Finality, did the impossible - Played as a band WITHOUT a drummer. Jimmi, Rowan and Matt had a big job on thier hands because Sean had left (Dawn Stephenson - Aurora Promotions organiser even explained why). So since Rowan has knowledge with audio software, he used the old drum tracks and samples from the demos and uploaded them onto Jimmi's iPod as backing tracks. Problem solved. This was because they didn't want to cancel a gig. There was quite a lot of good things at this gig despite the lack of another instrumentalist. Jimmi showed off his new Vox V847 Wah pedal; Rowan put down his Tokia RG34 'Ricky' and picked up his new Squier Telecaster (which Jimmi had to later borrow for Thanks For Nothing as his own Telecater Deluxe broke a string and this was before he got his Gould GS240MTB); Matt accidentally pulled out the lights whilst Goodbye Wires were sound checking; Equilibrium wasn't a new song, it was the new name for Donderkoodal; Matt played through his new Warwick 60W Blue Cab and Last Star in the Sky and Quadrat in the Tree were taken out in favour for My Country. Played alongside Goodbye Wires, Mute, Dirty As Muck and Hooked on Cindy. Don't think the band will be playing without a drummer again though...
What the band thought: Jimmi said before the gig: Help
Rowan said before the gig: We're just going to fluke it
Jimmi said: We just fluked it

Caught Live: Delayed Finality at The Bivouac
Travellers Rest conquered, now's time for a change of venue for this night
Event: Delayed Finality LIVE in association with The Bivouac
Event Date: 1st August 2008
Venue: The Duke of Wellington, Lincoln
Ticket Price: £5
Songs Played: Why Don't You See*, Donderkoodal, Project 52*, Last Star in the Sky, Quadrat in the Tree*, Equipment of the Futile, Thanks For Nothing
* - Blak Tornado song
Audience Number: 39
Description: This was the band's first outing at the nutourious Duke of Wellington under control of The Bivouac. Big bands have graced the stage at the Duke of Wellington before. Band such as The Killers, Kaiser Chiefs and Wombats. And surprise, surprise...look who came along to also have a go...Delayed Finality! This was the shortest gap between gigs, only 6 days from the last at the Travellers Rest. This was a very intimate gig, with only 39 people in the audience for the whole night. This was probably because this one wasn't glamourized as much as the previous. Although, this was one of the best sounding set they ever produced. Nothing out of the ordinary; just a good, clean natured play at another prime venue. Played alongside After the Awakening and The Dark Mantra. Delayed Finality being the youngest band of the night.
What the band thought: Jimmi says: I rather liked this event. Same again please

Caught Live: Schools Out for Summer
Delayed Finality were back to the Travs for another exclusive night. This time with younger bands and a younger audience.
Event: Schools Out for Summer party in association with Aurora Promotions
Event Date: 26th July 2008
Venue: The Travellers Rest, Lincoln
Ticket Price: £5 (£6 on the door)
Songs Played: Why Don't You See*, Donderkoodal, Project 52*, Last Star in the Sky, Quadrat in the Tree*, Equipment of the Futile, Thanks For Nothing
* - Blak Tornado song
Audience Number: 30 - 40 Approx.
Round-up: Delayed Finality played the Travellers Rest a second time for the Schools Out for Summer party making this one a bit special than usual. No "big guy" acts, this night was especially for teenage band that had just left school (Although not Rowan, Jimmi and Matt - They left a month earlier). This gig was easier down to the fact they knew what to expect and so was easier to play without nerves controlling. This gig featured a revised setlist. Quadrat in the Tree and Last Star in the Sky had been swapped around and Attack of the Killer Tomato was taken out and Thanks For Nothing was played as an outro song instead of Equipment of the Futile. There were a few mistakes but it was very hot night but it was an enjoyable night for audience and band. Playing alongside bands such as Remains Anonymous, Goodbye Wires, Anarchy on the 3rd Floor, Union 23 and Comic Book Zereos.
What the band thought: Sean said: I think we played well, personally

Caught Live: Live Debut
Previously they played in a school competition. This was the gig to kick start the gigs and prove that they're not just "another school band"; Their first live debut on the Lincoln Live Circuit.
Event: Delayed Finality LIVE debut in association with Aurora Promotions
Event Date: 28th June 2008
Venue: The Travellers Rest, Lincoln
Ticket Price: £5 (£6 on the door)
Songs Played: Why Don't You See*, Donderkoodal, Project 52*, Quadrat in the Tree*, Last Star in the Sky (Attack of the Killer Tomato), Equipment of the Futile
* - Blak Tornado song
Audience Number: 50 - 70
Round-up: This was the first proper gig! And also the first under Delayed Finality name. Back dropped against the then familiar Travellers Rest, one of Lincoln's most popular venues at the time, this was the event to that would either make them or break them. And guess what...Yupp, they were made here and proved to put on a fantastic show, much better than the Showcase competition they previously done before. New audience, new material and also Sean Kingswood, their new drummer. Despite being their first live gig and the fact that Sean was only acquired on the previous Sunday, giving them only 6 days before a big gig they didn't want to cancel, they pulled it off with ease. Yeah, there were a few subtle hiccups here and there, but all bands have done it once or twice, so there's no real sin there. But what a night though. It was claimed that they got the biggest audience; people were singing along with the "heys" in Donderkoodal like they had known the song for ever; Rowan added comical screamo-esque vocals to Attack of the Killer Tomato, which made another appearance; and Jimmi and Matt got involved with the audience. This night they played alongside some big acts which included Try My Shoes, Joy Riding Range, Dirty As Muck, When The Button Switches and August Underground.
What the band thought: Rowan said before the gig: This is going to be fun...our first proper gig
Jimmi said before the gig: A year ago, I wouldn't have thought that I would be in this position. It feels very unreal but very exciting. And we're playing alongside some fantastic bands...on our first night!
Jimmi says: I have never been so awestruck at the sound of a crowd before! They were cheering and shouting and having a laugh all to songs that Rowan and I have written. They had to be one of the best audiences ever. I knew the night was a hit when we walked off the stage with the audience shouting "more...more...!"

Caught Live: Music Showcase - Round Two
The band proved their metal so much, they managed to win a spot in Round Two, where they broke the rules.
Event: North Kesteven Schools Music Showcase - Round Two
Event Date: 8th May 2008
Venue: The School Hall
Ticket Price: £2
Songs Played: Equipment of the Futile and 'surprise outro' Attack of the Killer Tomato
Audience Number: Approx. 200
Round-up: The second outing on stage for The Vaultz, Music Showcase wouldn't have known what hit it. It was very nerve wracking for the band though. Not only this was the first time they had ever played an original song (Equipment of the Futile); they were sound checked and mixed badly, no one could hear each other; there were more people to perform in front of (mainly old people waiting for thier squeeky clean grandaughter to sing cheesy pop song); cables littered the stage, which Jimmi and later performers kept tripping over; the guitars were requested to be turned down and they weren't allowed distortion, which kinda has to be there for a song like Equipment of the Futile. So, thanks to bad stage organisation and a bad sound technician, they threw caution to the wind and went berserk on stage to teach them a lesson! Rowan tested out his killswitch on his Squier Strat; Matt tested out his Epiphone Thunderbird IV bass and Jimmi leaped into the air in at the song's climax. Ironically, Jimmi always had a vision of smashing up equipment on stage. He didn't though but he got close. He broke another performers pedal board! They then snuck in Attack of the Killer Tomato [Penned by Matt at a practice once] at the end, essentially playing two songs instead of one.
What the band thought: Jimmi says: Despite the soundcheck being an absolute shambles, we must have woke people up by playing first. The audience was better this time, clapping along with the song. Attack of the Killer Tomato was fantastic too. We need to use it again some other time or other similar instrumental breaks. You could also pick out supporter of The Vaultz too. Fantastic, despite the bad sound!
Rowan says: It was good fun but the sound was terrible, due to the sound tech. It was great to be back playing music though...even if it did suck...BADLY...

Caught Live: Music Showcase - Round One
The first gig Jimmi, Rowan and Matt played together at.
Event: North Kesteven School's Music Showcase
Event Date: 20th March 2008
Venue: The School Hall
Ticket Price: Free, but each member were only allocated 2 audience members each
Songs Played: Take Me Out (Franz Ferdinand cover)
Audience Number: There was an order for 100 seats
Round-up: This was the first time the main members of Delayed Finality played live together on stage, under their alias, The Vaultz at Music Showcase (a school-based competition). At the time, the drummer was a friend of the band, Danny Robinson, who later left. The bands original plan was play Knights of Cydonia by Muse but the lack of any Muse-y sounding instruments, it sounded a bit empty, so a last moment change was due, hence why they played Franz Ferdinand's Take Me Out. Despite the change of song, the band proved to be a big hit at the event. What's more, Matt and Jimmi were bricking it with nerves before they went on; they had never done anything like this before ever; whereas Rowan and Danny had been in a Showcase together in the past and so they were used to it. But once the nerves settled in, things became a lot more rawkess. The audience got involved; Jimmi was jumping around; Rowan and Matt were battling it out and Danny threw his sticks across the stage. It was the perfect kick start for a band of this calibre.
What the band thought: Rowan says: I thought Round One was really good. Despite the small audience we played well.
Jimmi says: The atmosphere was fantastic! The sound of everyone cheering at the end is one of the best sounds ever, resulting in one off the best feelings ever.

The First Blog and why it's the first...
Hello
You are now currently reading the first post on Delayed Finality: The Blog. For those of you who are new to the DF world, welcome. For those of you who are not, you're probably wondering why this account has been set up on Blogger. Well, it is here to replace the MySpace profile, because MySpace has dwindled in the battle of the Social Networking sites. It seems that Facebook has killed the MySpace star. Actually, to be brutally honest, all of us members have forgotten the password to the MySpace account and so rather than panic as to what it was, this rather neat and jazzy Blogger blog has been set up. If you remember (if you can remember MySpace at all), we used to use that as core information centre to get important news and facts to you and you could read them when and how you liked. That is really what this is, here and now; a main centre point for easy access. Simple. Also on MySpace, we used the bulletin function quite frequently too. Now, since Blogger doesn't have a bulletin board like MySpace (thank heavens), we'll use our Facebook profile status updates as well as this. Hopefully this and Facebook will work together in perfect harmony, like an orchestra.
As for MySpace - seeing that we can't delete it - we're going to have to keep it up and running, so you can still listen to all our "profile-only" demo's and look at all our pictures (we have them all backed up so they're not lost) from over the years, however they're won't be any updates and it may end up disappearing. Luckily, the password to the YouTube and Photobucket accounts weren't forgotten so they aren't going anywhere.
So, you know that this account is a replacement but what is it actually for? What will appear here? Put simply into a list:
Song information - A quick roundup of some of the songs
Gig information - Where we've played live (now called Caught Live)
News/Updates - Self explanatory, really
Pictures (occasionally) - We'll put up some pictures and maybe some explanation of what is going on it
Video posts - Because no doubt, you'll like to see what's going on as well as reading about it
This blog will hopefully be used to its full potential, and with songs being recorded at the moment, we'll guide you and everyone else through this Delayed Finality adventure...
Keep your eyes peeled!
