Caught Live: Music Showcase - Round One

The first gig Jimmi, Rowan and Matt played together at.

Event: North Kesteven School's Music Showcase
Event Date: 20th March 2008
Venue: The School Hall
Ticket Price: Free, but each member were only allocated 2 audience members each
Songs Played: Take Me Out (Franz Ferdinand cover)
Audience Number: There was an order for 100 seats
Round-up: This was the first time the main members of Delayed Finality played live together on stage, under their alias, The Vaultz at Music Showcase (a school-based competition). At the time, the drummer was a friend of the band, Danny Robinson, who later left. The bands original plan was play Knights of Cydonia by Muse but the lack of any Muse-y sounding instruments, it sounded a bit empty, so a last moment change was due, hence why they played Franz Ferdinand's Take Me Out. Despite the change of song, the band proved to be a big hit at the event. What's more, Matt and Jimmi were bricking it with nerves before they went on; they had never done anything like this before ever; whereas Rowan and Danny had been in a Showcase together in the past and so they were used to it. But once the nerves settled in, things became a lot more rawkess. The audience got involved; Jimmi was jumping around; Rowan and Matt were battling it out and Danny threw his sticks across the stage. It was the perfect kick start for a band of this calibre.
What the band thought: Rowan says: I thought Round One was really good. Despite the small audience we played well.
Jimmi says: The atmosphere was fantastic! The sound of everyone cheering at the end is one of the best sounds ever, resulting in one off the best feelings ever.
